According to SpecMachinery.com.ua, the United States is working with its allies to supply Ukraine with artillery in a new package of military assistance.
The Biden administration is ready to dramatically expand the weapons it provides to Ukraine, US officials said on Tuesday, and the Pentagon wants to hand over armored Humvees and a number of other complex weapons, writes The Washington Post.
Preliminary plans circulating among government officials and lawmakers in Washington include Mi-17 helicopters, howitzers, "Coast Guard drones" and protective suits to protect the military in the event of a chemical, biological or nuclear attack.
However, it is unclear whether all this will remain in the final aid package. A spokesman for the US Department of Defense has already stated that Russian-made helicopters will not be included in the list.
According to media reports, some of the weapons expected in the next package are new to Ukrainian troops and are likely to need training before they can be used in combat.
A senior US Defense Department official anonymously told reporters Tuesday that the Biden administration is open to this if it meets Ukraine's specific needs.
During Biden's tenure, the United States has provided more than $ 2.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, of which $ 1.7 billion came after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
It also became known that the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is preparing to be sent to the United Kingdom to seize new armored vehicles that London will supply to Ukraine.
According to SpecMachinery.com.ua, it is about 120 armored vehicles that are preparing for the Ukrainian army.
