An army of Russia is already preparing to use outdated soviet military equipment

Resolute resistance and resilience of the Ukrainian army hindered russia's plans to achieve its goal in the short term. This created the need for constant replenishment of the russian group's by personnel and military equipment due to heavy losses.

In order to restore their combat capabilities, the russian Armed Forces are increasingly resorting to the use of soviet-made equipment, which has been in storage for a long time (since the 1970s). Considerable attention is paid to increasing the capabilities of artillery and missile units to carry out continuous shelling of Ukrainian cities.

In particular, during April:

  • 18 units of 2S19 Msta-S 152.4 mm self-propelled howitzer were taken from the arsenal of Missile and Artillery Weapons (MAW) (Ussuriysk, Primorsky Krai) of the Eastern Military District;
  • 28 units of 2S3 Akatsiya SO-152 152.4 mm self-propelled gun from 94th Arsenals of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation (Omsk);
  • 15 units of 2S19 Msta-S, 5 units of 2S3 Akatsiya, 20 units of 2S1 Gvozdika 122 mm self-propelled howitzer gun from the arsenal of complex storage of Missile and Artillery Weapons (Gagarin, Sverdlovsk region) of the Centre of material and technical support of the Central Military District is transferred to the storage base of MAW (Novocherkassk);
  • 15 units of MLRS BM-27 Uragan (9P140) self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system and 11 units of Tactical Operational Missile Complex "Tochka-U" from the 109 arsenals of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the russianfFederation (Batareynaya, Irkutsk region).

In addition, in settlement Kyivskiy (moscow region) recorded the movement of the echelon consisting of: 6 units of MLRS "Grad"; 8 units of MLRS Uragan and 7 units of Hurricane MLRS transporter-loader vehicle (9T452). According to preliminary data, the equipment was removed from the arsenals of the Western Military District.

Restoration of combat capability and staffing of weapons and military equipment of the Western Military District is carried out, including due to armaments and military equipment removed from storage of 239 mobilization deployment centers (Boguchar, 45 km from the State Border of Ukraine). Maintenance and repairs are carried out by units of the 215 independent repair and restoration battalion (Marshal Zhukov) 20A.
