As the ABCD24 portal has learned, a new generation intercontinental ballistic missile is being created in the United States, in front of which the advertised Russian "Sarmat" will have a "pale look"

According to ABCD24 journalists, the press service of the US Air Force has officially given a new name to the missile. - LGM-35A Sentinel, formerly known as GBSD (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent).

According to a tender won by Northrop Grumman, the US military planned to find a replacement for the LGM-30 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which was adopted in the 1970s. It is planned to replace all 450 Minuteman III missiles in service with the US Air Force, as well as possibly the infrastructure to launch them. The new ICBMs should join the army in 2027 and last until the 2070s. The preliminary value of the contract is estimated at $ 62.3 billion.

It was also decided to modernize all launchers. This increased the cost of rearmament of intercontinental ballistic missiles to $ 100 billion. In addition, the deadline for commissioning the first missiles was adjusted. Yes, the first LGM-35A Sentinel will be on combat duty until 2029 and will serve until the 70s.

At the same time, the US Air Force points out that due to the modularity and ease of maintenance, the missiles will be constantly upgraded and will be able to respond to all future threats, first of all - the Russian advertised project "Sarmat". However, the detailed tactical and technical characteristics of the new missile are not specified, so as not to "please" Russia in advance, which may impose on the pants.

Journalists of the ABCD24 portal found out that the modernization of the American nuclear arsenal started in 2013, as part of the "3 + 2" strategy, within 25 years seven types of nuclear warheads will be replaced by five new ones. According to the head of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Frank Klotz, "The United States will have in its nuclear arsenal three warheads for surface-to-sea and naval-based missiles, as well as two types of air-to-air warheads. One of them is a free-fall bomb, the other is a warhead mounted on a cruise missile. " According to various estimates, US nuclear rearmament could cost about $ 1 trillion, of which $ 350 billion will be spent over the next decade.
